Seen some buzz about a new hyperhidrosis 'fix' — worth the hype or same old story?
Been doing this long enough to know that every few months something pops up online claiming to be the thing that finally stops hyperhidrosis for good. Saw a thread circulating recently where someone says they may have found a way to stop it altogether. I'm not going to get my hopes up too fast — I've been down that road plenty of times over the decades.
That said, I'm not dismissing it either. When you've got severe hand sweating and you're an electrician working with tools and wiring every day, you pay attention when something new comes up. I've run the gamut: prescription antiperspirants, iontophoresis for years, a few other things. Some helped. None fixed it.
A few things I've learned to ask before getting excited about anything new:
- Is there any actual mechanism explained, or is it just 'it worked for me'?
- Has more than one person replicated it consistently?
- What are the practical barriers — cost, time, access, side effects?
- Does it address hands and feet specifically, or just underarms?
I'm genuinely curious what others here think when something like this surfaces. Do you dig in and try it? Wait and watch? Get frustrated by the cycle of hope and disappointment?
If you've seen this particular thread or others like it recently, I'd like to hear your read on it. And if you've actually tried something unconventional that surprised you — good or bad — this is a good place to share it plainly. No judgment here, just honest comparison.
