Antiperspirant layering for chest/groin sweating — what's actually worked without wrecking your skin?

Okay, real talk. I've got severe sweating in the spots that make "just wear breathable fabrics" feel like a cruel joke. Underarms I can manage (mostly). But chest and groin? Whole different ecosystem.

I've been experimenting with layering antiperspirants in my "hot zones" and I'm curious what others have actually stuck with long-term without getting raw, itchy, or that weird chalky buildup that flakes into everything.

What I've tried sonfar:

  • Clinical-strength AP on underarms — standard, works decently if I apply at night
  • Glycopyrrolate wipes (prescription) — on my chest/breast area before work or dates. Helps some but I get nervous about overuse and my skin gets tight-feeling
  • Powder on top — sometimes works, sometimes turns into paste by hour three
  • The "don't layer at all" phase — just moisture-wicking underwear and hope. Austin summer killed this fast

Specific questions I'm sitting with:

  1. Do you put AP directly on breast/groin skin, or do you buffer with something first? My derm said "be careful" and I heard "figure it out yourself"
  2. Has anyone found a specific active ingredient (aluminum zirconium vs chloride etc) that plays nicer with sensitive folded skin?
  3. How do you handle reapplication when you're out? I keep a little kit but there's no subtle way to powder your chest in a bar bathroom

I'm not looking for a miracle cure. Just trying to reduce the mental math I do before dancing in my kitchen with someone, or deciding whether a dress with pockets is worth the fabric contact.

What's your actual routine? The boring, imperfect, "this mostly works Tuesday through Thursday" version. Those are the ones I need.
